The Peoples Climate Train

All Abooooaard !
http://peoplesclimatetrain.weebly.com/

This train is bound from the SF Bay Area to New York City on September 15 for the People’s Climate March happening on September 21st, the largest demonstration ever to demand action on climate change. This mass march will coincide with the United Nations Climate Summit taking place in the following days, to which the leaders of 180 countries have been invited.

The People's Climate Train will be picking up activists and concerned citizens in Sacramento, Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago and more, before arriving in NYC on Thursday the 18th.  Along the way we'll have teach-ins, trainings, mixers, and movement-building workshops (see the "Train Schedule" and "Descriptions of Train Sessions" tabs above).

The response until now has been amazing and we're excited to say we have officially booked up the rest of the train!  While there are no tickets left on this train, we've put together a second train due to popular demand!  The second Climate Train will have the same route and departure times but leave the following day on Sept. 16 from Emeryville, CA to arrive in NYC on Sept. 19 (just in time for all of the pre-March activities that weekend).  It will not have the same formally organized workshops and activities on board, but will nevertheless be a great opportunity to travel with others to the big march.

Buy your ticket for the second Climate Train from the SF Bay Area here

or if you are boarding from different stop, use these booking instructions to get your discounted Amtrak ticket asap!  Riders from outside of the the Bay Area will want to be sure and notify us (via email at jkim@biologicaldiversity.org) once booking so we can stay in communication until departing day.  Please also fill out this questionnaire so we can stay better connected and send updates.

Why:

The People’s Climate March is an invitation to change everything. The people will converge on New York City during the UN Climate Summit to demand that our world leaders ensure a safe, stable future for us all. We want to be there, and we want getting there to be as meaningful as the event itself.

The cost for a coach seat from Emeryville, CA through our group reservation is $201. Pricing information from other locations can found on the Amtrak website(be sure to look at prices for the California Zephyr and/or the Lake Shore Limited 48).

Getting Back:
There will be a “recommended” train coming back so some of us can travel together, but it will not be a formal organized trip. To allow for flexible schedules and travel preferences, people will be making their own arrangements home.  Please see the suggested return trip info here.
